2020 Virtual DUCK  RACE

PLEASE  SUPPORT  THE  GHAVFD (#50)

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure a safe event for all, the Duck Race this year will be a virtual race instead of a live race. The race will be held on Saturday, Sept 19.

The Fire Department (GHAVFD) continually sets goals to better serve the community by providing a high level of fire suppression and emergency medical services within its service area.  Each member undergoes extensive training, and uses a wide array of vehicles, equipment, clothing and gear. Duck Race adoption proceeds are a critical component of the GHAVFD income, which contributes to the maintenance of these items and all other operational expenses.

Please go to www.epduckrace.org and purchase your adoptions on line.  Please remember to select #50 (Glen Haven Area VFD). Adoptions cost $20 each, and the organization you select will receive $19 from each adoption sold; and remember that $19 of each adoption is tax deductible. You can purchase Quack Packs of 5 Duck Adoptions for $110 that will give your buyer six ducks in the race for prizes!

So, what exactly does it mean to have a virtual race?

1,    Rather than dropping the little ducks in the river and pulling them out at the finish line, all the duck numbers will be placed in a rotating barrel and pulled out one by one. Winners are determined by a random, double-blind selection process. This “race” will be live-streamed, and winners will be posted online within minutes of being entered into the system.  There will be no activities at Nicky's Restaurant or at Riverside Plaza.  We hope that people will tune into social media to watch from the comfort of their own home.

2.    Major cash and travel prizes will be awarded.  Duck adopters will have the chance to win hundreds of prizes valued at $20 and up. The difference is that this year the merchants aren't donating the prizes.  Most prizes, called Duck Bucks, will be financed from the Duck Race Committee budget, along with other generous donors, and can be redeemed at our local businesses.

Please adopt a duck, or ask friends & family if they would like to adopt a duck and possibly win cash or other great prizes.  www.epduckrace.org
